Market wrap: VN-Index slides by 1.7%, falling to lowest point since April
The VN-Index began the week down 1.7% to close at 1,042.4, its lowest point since April of this year. The market had a healthy trading rhythm of buying and selling in the early afternoon but the combination of low trading volume (USD411.1mn) and downward pressure on blue-chip stocks led the session to end the day with 393 losers and 111 gainers.
* VCB (+1.1%) increased for the third straight session. Other large-cap banks BID (-2.4%), VPB (-1.5%), and CTG (-1.9%) took losses while TCB (-4.9%) plunged.
* Real estate firm VHM (0.0%) had no change as its parent company VIC (-0.2%) decreased.
* GAS (-1.3%) and HPG (-1.5%) both dropped.
* In food & beverage, VNM (-0.6%) inched down, SAB (-3.7%) plummeted and MSN (+0.4%) made marginal gains.
