Market wrap: VN-Index makes slight gain, up 0.78%

The VN-Index closed at 1,137.36 points on Monday, showing a 0.78% increase from the previous trading day. Total turnover also increased, reaching USD564.8mn.  

* GAS contributed most to the session's gain, recovering from last week's slide in four out of five days and increasing by 2.9%.

* Banks VCB (-0.9%) and BID (-0.6%) were the first and third most significant detractors on the index while the overall banking sector showed positive movement.  

* In the real estate sector, VIC declined by 1.6% along with its subsidiary VRE, which saw a decrease of 1.5%. Conversely, another of Vingroup’s subsidiaries, VHM, ended the day with a 2.1% increase.
