Market wrap: VN-Index falls as investors become cautious
The VN-Index closed down by eight-tenths of a percent on Thursday as investors became cautious following Wall Street’s overnight selloff resulting from Fitch Ratings downgrading the United States’ long-term credit rating.
* VHM (-2.9%) was the top contributing laggard for the second straight day.
* Banks VCB (-1.0%), BID (-1.1%), VPB (-1.4%) and TCB (-1.2%) fell. Conversely, ACB (+1.5%) and LPB (+1.2%) finished higher.
* Steelmaker HPG (-2.4%) has declined in four out of the past five trading sessions.
* Consumer stocks SAB (+1.6%) and MWG (+1.9%) were the day’s top two contributing gainers.
