Market wrap: VN-Index rebounds by 1.9% on back of late afternoon rally

The VN-Index closed at 1,108 points (+1.9%) on Friday to make up for the previous day’s losses. The market appeared to be heading towards a decline for most of the day. However, a late afternoon surge in buying boosted the overall performance of the session.

* Large-cap banks were up across the board, led by VCB (+0.4%) and BID (+0.8%).

* In real estate, VHM (+4.7%) and VIC (+0.4%) halted their five-session slides.

* Food & Beverage firm MSN (+3.9%) fully recovered from yesterday’s loss while VNM (+1.3%) also made gains.  

* GAS (+1.6%) and HPG (+2.7%) also made significant positive contributions during the session.
