Market wrap: VN-Index gains 3.91% in Pre-Tet week
The VN-Index rose 0.55% on Friday to close at 1,824.09. On HOSE, market breadth was positive, with 193 advancers versus 118 decliners. Total turnover edged up from the previous session to USD782mn. For the week, the VN-Index gained 3.91%, fully recouping the prior week’s losses ahead of the Tet holiday.
* Banking stocks contributed positively to the benchmark, led by CTG (+1.6%), STB (+2.5%), and HDB (+1.3%), although BID (-1.4%) edged lower.
* Financial Services advanced, driven by VIX (+3.0%), VCI (+1.7%), VND (+1.6%), and SSI (+0.5%).
* Oil & Gas stocks extended their rebound, with BSR (+2.5%), PVD (+3.0%), and PVS (+0.9%) posting gains.
* Other notable gainers included Industrials GEE (+7.0%), GEX (+7.0%), VGC (+4.0%), and PC1 (+2.5%), Consumer Services FRT (+1.8%) and HVN (+1.7%), and Consumer Goods PNJ (+1.3%), SBT (+1.1%).
* In contrast, Insurance and Technology underperformed, weighed down by BVH (-0.8%), MIG (-1.9%), FPT (-2.5%), and CMG (-0.9%).
