Market wrap: Financial sector slumps, VN-Index drops 1.1%

On Thursday, the VN-Index tumbled by 1.1%, nearly wiping out its gain from the previous day as several tickers in the financial sector fell sharply.

* Banks were down across the board, led by VCB (-1.1%), BID (-1.1%), CTG (-1.0%) and VPB (-1.1%)

* Securities brokerages SSI (-4.7%), VND (-4.2%), HCM (-3.1%), VIX (-3.5%) and VCI (-5.6%) suffered heavy losses.

* VIC (-2.4%) and its subsidiary VHM (-1.0%) both dropped following their gains on Wednesday.

* MWG (-2.9%) and FPT (-1.7%) decreased.
