The VN-Index rose by 1.07% on the first trading day of 2017, led by financial stocks. BID and CTG closed at their ceilings, while VCB soared due to rumors of FOL increases. BVH, HCM and SSI also gained significantly. Consumer staple stocks (VNM, MSN, GTN), material stocks (HPG, HSG, PHR) and IT stocks (FPT) also contributed to the index's gains, which in turn helped the VN30 to cross its MA200 resistance level at 628, returning to bull market territory.
