Vietnam stocks rose for a third day, but just barely. The index peaked at almost 691 late in the morning session but faded throughout the afternoon to close at the low of the afternoon session, up 0.28 points, or 0.04%, to 687.32. Despite the meager gain, gainers outpaced laggards by 151 to 106. The government's 5Y bond yield matched a record low of 4.9%, reflecting high liquidity levels in the banking system.
