The local media ran a story today that per a draft circular amending Circular 36, the number of banks that are allowed to reach a maximum loan-to-deposit ratio (LDR) of 90% will be expanded to include VCB, BID and CTG. Despite this being old news and having little practical impact since LDRs of VCB, BID and CTG already have been running above 90%, the market reacted very positively. CTG and BID reached the ceiling, while VCB advanced 3.2%.
