As negative sentiment from the Chinese market turmoil blew over, local investors took the chance to buy as the previous slump had pushed the VN-Index close to its supporting range of 550 - 555. Consequently, the index rallied six points to close at 564.26. Large-caps, especially bank stocks, found their way to the winning side, with sector leader, VCB, notching an impressive 2% gain. Blue-chip, VNM, was today's top index contributor, also making a sizable gain of 1.7%.
