Early in 2017, VCB’s chairman disclosed that the bank had submitted a scheme regarding the restructuring of a weak bank and was awaiting SBV’s approval. It has not been clarified what measures VCB is proposing to SBV and whether this is an M&A with the weak bank, but in this note, we analyze a potential scenario to evaluate the profitability and capital buffers in VCB.
